You will need:
Cotton yarn in six different colors for the body and head
Cotton yarn in black color
Crochet hook 3.5mm
Needle for sewing
Fiberfill
Safety eyes
Pipe cleaner/ iron wire
Stitch guide:
chain (ch): Yarn over and pull through loop.
Single crochet (sc): Insert hook in stitch. Yarn over and pull up a loop. Yarn over and draw through 2 loops.
Slip stitch (slst): Insert hook in stitch yarn over and pull through 2 loops.
Single crochet increase (inc): 2 single crochet in the same stitch follow the instructions.
Single crochet decrease (dec): insert hook in front loop of the next 2 stitches. Yarn over draw through 2 loops.
Notes:
This pattern is worked in a continuous spiral without closing off each round. Please mark the first stitch of each round and move the marker up as you work.
The pattern:
Body and Head
One ball in each color, total of six balls
Rnd 1: 6 sc in magic ring (MR)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc across (12)
Rnd 3: (sc in next 1 stitch, inc) repeat 6 times (18)
Rnd 4: (sc in next 2 stitches, inc) repeat 6 times (24)
Rnd 5: (sc in next 3 stitches, inc) repeat 6 times (30)
Rnd 6-10: 30 sc, 5 rounds (30)
Assemble the safety eyes in the head ball, between round 8-9, while leaving 4 stitches between the eyes
Rnd 11: (sc in next 3 stitches, dec) repeat 6 times (24)
Rnd 12: (sc in next 2 stitches, dec) repeat 6 times (18)
Rnd 13: (sc in next 1 stitches, dec) repeat 6 times (12)
Rnd 14: dec, repeat 6 times (6)
Fasten off and fiberfill firmly, leaving yarn for sewing.
Antennae (make 2):
With black color
Rnd 1: 5 sc in magic ring (MR)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc across (10)
Rnd 3: 10 sc (12)
Rnd 4: dec, repeat 5 times (5)
Rnd 5-8: 5 sc, repeat 4 rounds (5)
Fasten off leaving yarn for sewing.
Legs (make 8):
With black color

Assemble the body and the head parts
Assemble the legs
Assemble the Antennas
Insert pipe cleaners or iron wire in the antennas, it will stabilize them.
Embroider the caterpillar lips with red yarn and eyelashes with black yarn :
